Introduction

This privacy policy explains how Aztura Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Is It Halal? mobile application (“the App”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in how your data is handled.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the App:

• Location data — Used to find halal restaurants, mosques, and other places near you. Location is accessed only while using the App and is not stored on our servers.
• Camera access — Used for scanning barcodes and menus. Images are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored.
• Email address — Collected when you create an account, used for authentication and account-related communications.
• Scan history — Records of products you have scanned, stored to provide you with a history of your searches and to improve our database.
• Reviews and submissions — Content you voluntarily submit, including place reviews, ratings, and place submissions.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Provide nearby halal place discovery based on your location
• Analyse product ingredients and menus for halal compliance
• Maintain your account and personalise your experience
• Improve the accuracy and coverage of our halal database
• Display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
• Communicate important updates about the App

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services that may collect or process data:

• Supabase — Cloud database and authentication provider. Stores account data, reviews, and place information.
• Google AdMob — Advertising network. May collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalisation. You can opt out of personalised ads in your device settings.
• OpenAI — AI analysis provider. Product ingredient and menu data may be sent to OpenAI for halal status analysis. No personally identifiable information is shared.
• Google Maps — Mapping and geocoding services. Location data is shared with Google to display maps and calculate distances.

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their respective policies.

Data Retention

Your account data, including your email, profile information, scan history, and submitted content, is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, all associated data will be removed from our systems.

Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account directly within the App via the Profile settings. Account deletion requests are processed within 48 hours. Upon deletion, all personal data associated with your account — including your profile, scan history, saved places, and reviews — will be permanently removed from our systems.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data transmission between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR:

• The right to access your personal data
• The right to rectification of inaccurate data
• The right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
• The right to restrict processing
• The right to data portability

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law.
